from the Donaldson Trophy competition
The event was well received
with the course being in reasonable
condition considering the recent weather. The carvery was excellent as ever,
and the catering staff were very efficient and attentive. We had to pay an
extra £1.50 per head due to a miscommunication between the Kelso GC committee
and the caterers. They said they’d let us know whether they’d refund the
additional payment but we’ve had no word. All in all, a very good event.
for the Hunter Cup
Brian Hunter is sponsoring the event again, with our
grateful thanks. All arrangements are in hand. Duty Committee for the event
will be Grant Cannon and Dougie Bain. Longest Drive will be at the 9th;
Nearest the Pin will be at the 12th.
Bain Knockout Cup
Very poor support so far for this event, with only 11
names down after the Committee meeting. We’ll try to drum up support at Peebles
The Carrick Outing
There are still apparently 18 people with money
outstanding to pay to George Douglas, despite a reminder at the last outing. There
have been a couple of dropouts, both of whose places have been filled so there
are still 44 scheduled to go. The bus is booked at a cost of £580. The Longest
Drive and Nearest the Pin prizes will be funded by the Club unless anyone else
wishes to do so. George Douglas will provide the prizes for 1st, 2nd
and 3rd. A meeting to discuss the outing will be held in the Black
Bull on Thursday 16th May at 8pm.
The golf club team of Michael Scott, Harry Moffat and
Mark Reilly are playing on Friday 10th May.
competition at Torwoodlee
The Galashiels Rotary Club competition takes
Sunday 2nd June, so clashes with the Carrick outing. Brian Thorburn
has replied to decline the invitation.
Civic Week Monday
The theme is now MUSICALS so we’ll need to change
idea. A meeting to discuss will be held in the Black Bull on Thursday 16th
May at 8pm, before or after the Carrick discussion.
The next Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday 5th
June before the following Sunday’s Black Bull Inn Shield outing at Torwoodlee
draw for the Hunter Cup was made. 25 will play on Sunday at Peebles GC.
